Bruno Mars Will Not Be Paid For His Half Time Performance!!!

Per madamenoire, Bruno Mars will not be paid for his Superbowl performance?  He’s not complaining, since no celebrity has ever been compensated for performing at the Superbowl halftime show.

A normal halftime show lasts anywhere from 12 minutes to a half hour.  Artists aren’t compensated, but the NFL does cut the check for travel and accommodations for not just the artist but their staff, family and friends as well.

Beyoncé, Michael Jackson and Madonna are just a few artists who have had the honor of saying they performed at the Superbowl.  Rapper M.I.A may have actually lost any money she could have made after flipping a camera the bird during her performance.  Athough the FCC dismissed the incident and only 222 of the 114 million viewers complained, the NFL tried to sue her for $1.5 million, the largest fine ever leveled to a halftime show performer. Madonna’s performance still reigns as the most popular of all time garnering 114 million viewers.  Beyoncé’s is the second most viewed.

Your favorite artist may not be as charitable as you think since the exposure alone could mean more endorsements, becoming a trending topic for the next 24 hours and bragging rights for the rest of your career.  Nielsen SoundScan data reveals that halftime performing artists almost always see a significant spike in album sales and digital downloads in the weeks following their performance.

Bruno Mars recently spoke in a press conference about being chosen this year simply stating, “I ain’t scared.” His performance may be a refreshing twist on the halftime show since he’s following up past years’ shows that have been dominated by female superstars. Do you think Bruno Mars can pull off an epic performance or should he be a little intimidated?
