A black organization New Era Chicago (N.E.C) shuts down a gas station named Golo Gas Station located on Roosevelt and Independence in a black community. This happened after an employee of the store disrespected a black customer.
After N.E.C showed up, they asked politely to speak to the owner and a gentleman with an accent states the owner is not there and would not engage in conversation with one of the organizer’s leader.
At that point, the organizer got upset and said, ” since you MF don’t respect us we will Shut this MF down. His team completed a formation around the gas station on all entrances and exits while holding their fist chanting, ” Black Power,” not allowing anyone in our out.
The store representative then decides to come out and talk to the organizer’s leader, who told him you all are not allowed to disrespect our elders, women or children; we are tired of being treated as subhumans.
He then said black men we need to unite and come together under one umbrella, the only umbrella that never changes and it’s our blackness.
