Bill Cosby’s Vandalized Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Gets Cleaned Up But Will NOT Be Removed

After Bill Cosby was formally charged with sexual assault on December 30, rumors began to make their way across the Internet that the actor’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star was removed, but his star still remains in front of 6930 Hollywood Boulevard, in Los Angeles.

Snopes reports that a blog site apparently ran by someone known as Talk with Taj began reporting the bogus story only a day after Cosby, 78, was charged with sexual assault stemming from an alleged 2004 incident in the actor’s suburban Pennsylvania home.

“Bill Cosby has yet to be convicted and already his Hollywood Star is being removed. What gives them the right to remove a star when there have been multiple Hollywood stars who’ve been charged with horrible crimes and they didn’t removed theirs.”

The fake story seems to come from a December 2014 incident in which the actor’s Hollywood star was vandalized. Huffpost Celebrity reports that someone wrote the word “rapist” several times with a purple marker across Cosby’s star. Shortly after, California workers were photographed cleaning up Cosby’s star, which appears to be the photo being passed around as workers removing the star completely.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce released a public statement after the vandalism in 2014, indicating that there are no plans to remove Cosby’s star, and urging people to express their anger in a more positive way.

“The Hollywood Walk of Fame is an institution celebrating the positive contributions of the inductees. When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways then to vandalize a California State landmark. The star is being cleaned up at this time.”

Additionally, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce recently confirmed that not only is Cosby’s star still where it’s always been, but that there are also no plans to remove it.

Meanwhile, Camille Cosby, who has been adamant about refusing to testify against her husband, will be forced to give her testimony in the defamation case against the actor, brought on by seven women who accuse the Ghost Dad actor of sexual assault. Jezebel reports that a Massachusetts judge rejected Camille’s arguments that she had no first-hand knowledge of the accusations.

“US magistrate judge David Hennessy also rejected arguments by Camille Cosby that she lacked any first-hand knowledge of the events at issue, and that the court should protect her from ‘unnecessary harassment’ by limiting the scope of the subpoena.”

Camilla is scheduled to answer on January 6, but her attorneys still plan to argue the judge’s ruling, despite such limited amount of time to do so. Should the request be rejected, it will be the first ever that Cosby’s wife must answer questions under oath about her husband, after more than 50 women came forward to accuse the actor of crimes that include sexual assault, misconduct, rape, and drugging them with Quaaludes.

Cosby’s attorneys filed a countersuit on Monday, accusing the seven women named in the defamation suit of “malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct against him.” Bill Cosby still maintains his innocence, claiming that the women are lying about him for their own personal financial gain.

“Mr. Cosby states plainly that he neither drugged nor sexually assaulted the defendants and that each defendant has maliciously and knowingly published multiple false statements and accusations from Fall 2014 through the current day in an effort to cause damage to Mr. Cosby’s reputation and to extract financial gains.”
