He was home from his tours of duty with the U.S. Army, only to lose his life on the streets of Memphis. Now the search for Sergeant Calvin Wilhite’s killers is on.

From the information FOX13 has gotten from police, the suspects in this murder were driving south down Fourth Street towards FedEx Forum early Sunday morning.

They crossed by surveillance cameras at Fourth & Beale and Fourth & Martin Luther King, Jr., where police were able to then pull two surveillance photos, hoping someone can identify who these people are and what they were driving.

“I just had a baby by him, my son is in that house right now, he’s not even old enough to see his daddy and it hurts,” Wilhite’s girlfriend Terica Alexander, who was with Wilhite at the time of the murder, told FOX13.

Army Sergeant Calvin Wilhite was a new father, finally coming home to enjoy time with his family only to meet his tragic end in the streets of Memphis.

Days after the fatal shooting, Memphis Police sent FOX13 surveillance photos hoping for the public’s help in identifying these people.

FOX13 asked Memphis Police what kind of car is in the photos, if they could give us a license plate number on the car, or if they’ve tracked the car’s whereabouts that night using their surveillance cameras posted around downtown.

Police told us by email they’re not releasing any other details at this point.

But FOX13 did our own digging and asked a group of more than ten auto appraisers, mechanics and police officers their opinions.

This is what they all said: “We believe it’s either a Dodge Stratus or a Chrysler Sebring from the shape of the taillights and the roundness of the rear end of the vehicle,” a source told FOX13.

Our sources narrowed it down to an early 2000’s model Dodge Stratus or a Chrysler Sebring, but no one could say for sure which one because of the quality of the surveillance photos.

“It would be hard to determine from this picture as to the clarity and to determine exactly which one it is,” the source said.

If you have any information, if you were on Beale or downtown that night and saw anything, you can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 901-528-CASH.
