Apology Issued From Sony Executive Stemming From “Inappropriate” Surfaced Emails

A Sony executive and Oscar-winning producer have apologized after a large hack against the production company leaked their email exchange that included race jokes about President Barack Obama.

“The content of my emails to Scott were insensitive and inappropriate but are not an accurate reflection of who I am,” Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I made a series of remarks that were meant only to be funny, but in the cold light of day, they are in fact thoughtless and insensitive — and not funny at all,” explained the producer, Scott Rudin.

The emails, which speculated about Obama’s interest in movies featuring narratives like 12 Years a Slave, Django Unchained and The Butler, were released alongside many other documents in a hacking attack against Sony.
