February 6, 2015 will be the 20th Anniversary of one of the music industry’s best songs to EVER hit the airwaves, Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It”.   In the mid to late 90’s if you wanted to get the “PAAAARRRTAY” started you did not have to request it from the DJ, they automatically knew what to do.

But was it really all worth it, the rise to stardom, mass amounts of “groupies”, partying and drinking ’til the break?  After what EarHustle411 has been researching leading up to the 20th Anniversary of Montell’s debut song, We’d have to say no it wasn’t and not from our account but from his.  It’s not that he wasn’t successful because Montell most certainly was very successful in his career.  Sometimes when we have reached a certain point in our lives when we realize that regardless of the level of success we may have attained, nothing is more important than family.  Of course, it’s a reasonable fact to believe that we all have gotten “big-headed” and started to act out and do things that we may or may not do if we weren’t popular, cute or what have you.  We have to learn to appreciate a man or woman who can finally see the nonsense for what it really is.

Here we have a young man at the time growing up in South Central Los Angeles at a time when opportunities may have been limited but he push forward, completing high school and enrolled in to the prestigious Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, earning his Bachelors Degree in Communications and joining the distinguished men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.   This gentleman truly has his head on straight and he could most certainly be an example of one’s destiny isn’t defined by where they dwell.

With successful 16-year musical career, and some acting under his belt, Montell Jordan is “Mr. This Is How We Do It” and after 20 years the song still resonates with everyone who hears it regardless of the age.  It’s just one of those song that come along every once in a great while and it  transcends for years to come.

Montell Jordan made the biggest decision of his life, he put his musical career to the side and traded his secular mic for a spiritual one and has not looked back.  In doing so he reunited himself with God.  Some may say he was foolish to toss his career aside but as the Good Book says “ For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).  Well…Montell Jordan really didn’t want to find out!! He’s on a new path with the lady of his life who’s been by his side the entire time.  We applaud Montell  for thinking of his family first when most would choose fame.
