1 Suburban Glenview and 3 Chicago PD Officers Charged With Felony Perjury

CHICAGO — Four veteran police officers are charged with felony perjury and other related charges for providing false testimony and lying under oath.

One police officer is from suburban Glenview. The other three are Chicago narcotics officers, including a sergeant.

The Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez says they lied under oath during a felony drug case last year.

The officers claimed they followed correct procedure when arresting a man for marijuana possession in Glenview. But, squad car video shows the man was arrested before the marijuana was found.

The officers are identified as Chicago Police Sergeant James Padar, Chicago Police Officer William Pruente, Chicago Police Officer Vince Morgan and Glenview Police Officer James Horn.

The Chicago Police Department released the following statement after the charges were announced;

“Chicago Police Officers are expected to maintain the highest level of integrity at all times. The Department immediately launched an internal investigation and relieved the involved officers of their police powers upon learning of the disturbing allegations. The CPD will continue to fully cooperate with the CCSAO. The officers remain assigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the investigation.”

All four officers will all appear in bond court today.
